When nonprofit Commonwealth was envisioning a multi-year initiative to improve the financial health of 2.5 million workers earning low-to-moderate incomes through intentional employee benefits, they brought me onboard to lay the groundwork for the project. With my previous experience in emergency savings and financial wellness, I could support their team as a generalist to bring an early-stage initiative to life.

To start, I conducted issue-based landscape analysis, early partner development, and initial project planning. As the project has continued through a rapidly changing policy environment, I have supported the team through employer benefits research, HR corporate executive partnership development, Advisory Council engagement, and overall strategy work.

Specifically, I helped write the first long-form brief establishing Commonwealth’s point of view on intentional employee benefits that support retirement savings for workers living on low-to-moderate incomes. Read the brief here.

In this brief, we highlight student debt retirement match, 529s, health savings accounts. employee ownership, employee stock purchase plans, and tax-time support.
