My path
Transformational education, career, and personal growth opportunities have been powerful catalysts in my own life, pushing me to grow and develop my own gifts and focus. I am dedicated to creating those opportunities for others, both individually and systemically.
I started my career as a specialist, deep in analytics. Even now, Excel is my friend and I enjoy being a translator for people who aren't as comfortable with numbers.
Over time, I have become a practical generalist who thrives in purpose-driven environments. A desire to be closer to impact led me to community-centered design and a strategic lens led me to Lean Impact, applying design thinking to social issues at scale.
What I love about my work
I love my current work because I love learning. In this role as a consultant, I learn constantly about new organizations, new issue areas, and new geographies. But most of all, I learn from everyday people. Over time, I have had the privilege of learning from American families living paycheck to paycheck, from educators and administrators in Title I schools, from new moms in Johannesburg, and many more. Each person has a story. They often teach me to unlearn my own biases. They often inspire me with their ingenuity and dreams.
I have had the privilege of working on the cutting edge of technology and social impact. As new technologies emerge, I enjoy working with thoughtful people to consider how tech can widen a non-profit’s reach or deepen a service. I even led a nonprofit fintech product and engineering team for a bit as we scaled to our first 500,000 users. Nerding out on the intricacies of data aggregators, LLMs, and AI applications is just another way for me to exercise my love of learning. And while I don’t desire to be an engineer anymore, I like to know enough to engage meaningfully.
As my own boss, I am grateful for the freedom to live out my own values personally even as I seek to live them out professionally. I now think about my "work" as a portfolio of paid and unpaid interests that build richer communities. Hosting a neighborhood party, caring for a family member or friend, or taking time for myself to rest and explore is just as important to me as working with my clients.
Any more of my story will be best to share over a call. Please do reach out if you want to work together!
